We entered for 2009 Gold Medal Awards

The team at The Poet's Rest and George's Patisserie are waiting for great news. The finalists for the 2009 Gold Medal Awards will be announced soon. Both The Poet’s Rest Restaurant and George’s Patisserie in Slane have been included. George said “We are absolutely delighted to try again.

The judging process includs a detailed written application examining the business which will be followed up by a mystery guest from the hospitality industry who assess the facilities, service, standards, cuisine and other key indicators. The Poet’s Rest is entered in the Bistro category which realy means casual dining, and  George’s Patisserie in the Cafes and Coffee shop category.

George exclaimed “It has been a busy and exhausting year for me and for all the team as we worked hard to get the new restaurant open.  And we have also had a number of private weddings at the restaurant which has proven to be a beautiful venue for intimate wedding receptions.”

George beamed “We have had wonderful comments from our restaurant guests who are delighted both by the culinary adventures we are taking them on and by the reasonable prices that we charge. But it is also very rewarding for us to be recognised by our peers in the hospitality industry and we are truly delighted.  
The Awards, hosted by the Hotel and Catering Review, are an annual event celebrating the finest service providers in the Irish Hospitality sector.  The winners will be announced at a Gala Black Tie Award Ceremony.
